Rolex unveiled a new version of its iconic Daytona with a new case design, dial tweaks and an improved movement, the calibre 4131. The new calibre 4131 features all of Rolex’s newest movement technology, including the Chronergy escapement, Paraflex shock absorbers and a new rotor, with optimised ball bearing, that is cut out.
For the first time in Rolex’s history, the platinum Daytona features a sapphire display case back. The dial has also been reworked to have smaller hour markers and narrower sub dial rings. This is subtle, but again lends a more vintage look to the watch and reminds me very much of the first Daytona Perpetuals from the late ‘80s and 90s. The new models have been introduced in all iterations including; steel, rolesor, gold and platinum, on both Oyster and Oysterflex bracelets.
Rolex unveiled an entirely new line in the form of the Perpetual. The precious metal watches feature the thinnest movement from Rolex to date. Inspired by one of the first Rolex watches with the Perpetual rotor. This new collection is a reinterpretation of traditional watchmaking style imbued with quintessential watchmaking expertise and the aesthetic heritage of Rolex. The 1908 is fitted on an alligator leather strap, equipped with a Duelclasp, in 18 ct yellow or white gold.
Also new for 2023 is a RLX titanium Yacht-Master 42. This titanium watch is Light and Robust, making it a very versatile sports watch. Especially suited to the demands and pressures of competitive sailing, it puts watchmaking excellence at the service of sporting performance.
The black dial is accented with maxi hour markers and the matte and polished ceramic bezel insert sits within the RLX titanium bezel ring. The combination of polished, high-sheen and technical satin finishes illustrates the brand’s excellence in finishing techniques.
A milestone in watchmaking history, the Oyster Perpetual Datejust was the first self-winding waterproof chronometer wristwatch to display the date in a window at 3 o’clock on the dial. These numbers are a reminder that though 24 hours mark a day, it’s on us to make those a date to remember.
